Sunrock, the leading European developer of photovoltaic systems for large rooftops, is now B Corp certified, an international certificate awarded by the non-profit organization B Lab to companies for their social and ecological impact. With this achievement, Sunrock shows it is on the right track towards a more sustainable organization, and commits itself to regularly measuring and continuously improving its social and environmental impact.

Sunrock is now part of the “B Corp movement”, a growing global movement of companies that are actively promoting a sustainable, social, and fair future. To complete the certification, the company legally embedded its commitment to a purpose beyond profit in its company articles. The certification is based on a long-term commitment to greater sustainability, since companies certified as B Corps must be recertified every three years to maintain their certification.
The B Impact Assessment (BIA) measures the company’s overall social, ecological, and economic performance and focuses primarily on public transparency and legal accountability. The certification addresses the entirety of a business’s operations and covers five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of at least 80 (out of the 200 maximum) points while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency.
Sunrock scored 110 points overall showing their commitment to make a true effort for change. The BIA serves as a valuable benchmark for Sunrock’s ESG performance and provides insights into areas where they can improve their practices, e.g. enhancing internal awareness of the codes of conduct and improving the ratio of ethnic and gender diversity within the company.
