With a capacity of 10.9 MWp, one of Germany’s largest PV installations is being connected to the grid at the BMW Group site in Dingolfing. Sunrock is making the renewable, on-site generated energy fully available to the automotive manufacturer. Another BMW Group site in Regensburg has already been supplied with locally generated solar power since autumn 2025.

Sunrock, a leading European developer of large-scale solar rooftops and integrated solutions for clean energy, put the photovoltaic system at the Dynamics Centre of the BMW Group site in Dingolfing, Bavaria, into operation. With a capacity of 10.9 MWp, it is the largest rooftop PV system in Bavaria and the fourth-largest in Germany.
The new installation was built on approximately 100,000 m² of rooftop area that Sunrock leases from the BMW Group. It generates 10.5 GWh of electricity per year, which corresponds to the annual consumption of almost 5,000 single-person households. Sunrock supplies the electricity produced entirely to the BMW Group, further supporting the integration of renewable energy at the site.
Georg Brenninkmeijer, Managing Director at Sunrock Germany, emphasiszes: “With the rooftop PV system at the BMW Group site in Dingolfing, we have realiszed one of the largest projects of this kind in Germany. The solar power generated is used directly on site by the BMW Group and provides the automotive manufacturer with a long-term supply of clean and reliably plannable energy. In addition to the system in Dingolfing, Sunrock also developed 25,000 m² of rooftop PV area at the BMW Group site in Regensburg, with a capacity of 2.9 MWp generating around 2.9 GWh of electricity. Here, too, Sunrock has leased the roof area from the automotive manufacturer and supplies the plant with locally generated solar power. The system has been in operation since autumn 2025.
